There are seasons when life feels like a boat tossed on open water — the waves relentless, the wind loud, the night long. The disciples knew this feeling. They were experienced fishermen, and even they were afraid.
But Jesus was in the boat. He was asleep — not because He was indifferent, but because He was at rest. And when they woke Him in their panic, He did not scold the storm. He simply spoke to it.
"Peace! Be still." And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
He is in your boat too. Whatever storm you are facing today — the diagnosis, the broken relationship, the financial pressure, the grief that will not lift — He has not abandoned you. He is present. And His peace is not the absence of the storm; it is His presence in the middle of it.
You do not need the storm to stop to experience His peace. You need only to turn to the One who is already with you.
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."John 14:27
A Prayer for Today
Lord, in the storms of my life, remind me that You are in the boat. Still the anxious waves of my heart and let Your peace — the peace that passes understanding — guard my mind and soul today. Amen.
