An anchor does its work in the dark, beneath the surface, where no one can see it. You do not know an anchor is holding until the storm comes.
The writer of Hebrews calls our hope in Christ "an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." This is not wishful thinking — it is a theological declaration. Our hope is not anchored to circumstances, to feelings, or to our own faithfulness. It is anchored to the unchanging character of God.
When the winds of uncertainty blow and the tide of circumstance pulls at your feet, there is one thing that does not move — the hope we have in Christ, who entered the inner sanctuary on our behalf.
Your anchor holds not because you grip it tightly, but because it is secured to something that cannot be moved.

A Prayer for Today
Father, when I feel adrift, remind me that my hope is not in my circumstances but in You. You are my anchor. Hold me fast today. Amen.
