Lamentations is one of the most honest books in the Bible. It does not pretend that pain is not real. It sits in the rubble of Jerusalem and weeps.
And yet, right in the middle of that grief, the writer lifts his eyes and remembers: "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning."
His mercies are not rationed. They do not run dry. Every morning you wake, a fresh supply of grace is waiting — not because you earned it, but because He is faithful.
Whatever yesterday held — the failure, the regret, the wound — this morning is new. His mercies have been renewed. You do not carry yesterday's deficit into today. You begin again, covered by grace.
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."Lamentations 3:22–23
A Prayer for Today
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of a new morning. Your mercies are new today. Help me to receive them — not to earn them, but to live in the freedom of Your faithfulness. Amen.
